प्रथम पद (a) = 7
सार्व अंतर (d) = 10 ½ - 7 = 21/2 - 7 = (21 - 14)/2 = 7/2

माना A.P. का nवाँ पद 84 है/

सार्व अंतर (d) = 32 - 34 = - 2

 प्रथम पद (a) = -5
सार्व अंतर (d) = -8 - (-5) = - 8 + 5 = -3
an = -230, n = ?

माना A.P. का nवाँ पद -230 है/ 
सूत्र :- an = a + (n – 1)d
-230 = -5 + (n - 1)x(-3)
-230 + 5 = (n - 1)x(-3)
-225 = (n - 1)x(-3)
-225/-3 = n - 1
75 = n - 1
75 + 1 = n
n = 76
